The American table size relates to the actual playing surface and not the cabinet size. American tables are usually 7ft, 8ft or 9ft in size. The confusion again comes from the original American game of pool. The 7ft UK table means that the overall cabinet dimensions are 7ft x 4ft and not the playing surface. When talking about a UK table we talk about the overall table size and not the playing area. UK cue sports fans had always enjoyed the skill element of snooker and this meant the American game wasn’t as popular with players. In her early twenties, Lemke used the library to help hide those fleeing Nazi persecution. She graduated with a degree in Library Science from the University of Leipzig. She went to school and trained to become a librarian, as the profession was one of the few at the time not to require party membership. Lemke originally had dreams of becoming a doctor, but abandoned them as admission to medical school in Germany in the 1930s required membership in the Nazi party. Her father was one of the most influential theologians of the 20th century. Born in Breslau, Germany, in 1918, Lemke was the daughter of Helene and Rudolf Bultmann. |
